The Washington Monument's Moving Shadow Is a Fun Google Maps Easter Egg

If you've got a lot of time to kill on this work-free Memorial Day, you can spend a good chunk of it over on Google Maps checking out this fun Easter Egg discovered by Michael Sippey. It turns out the shadow cast by the Washington Monument moves throughout the day, accurately reflecting the position of the sun in the sky over Washington D.C.

And from the looks of it, that's not the only landmark on Google Maps that has an accurate shadow. The Gateway Arch in St. Louis appears to have one too, but sadly, Lady Liberty seems to be left out.
