As usual, Pixar is pushing boundaries when it comes to the CGI in Cars 2. Making the film required a render farm containing 12,500 CPU cores. And on average, it took 11.5 hours to render a single frame. [Cnet]
Am I missing something? For some reason I couldn't find the exact length online, but it seems to be around 1 hour and 45 minutes long. 105 minutes=6,300 seconds. They're probably recording at a standard 24FPS so 6,300*24=151,200 total frames. At 11.5 hours on average per frame, you get a total rendering time of 11.5*151,200=1,738,800 total hours, or 72,450 days, or 198 years (and 180 days). So tell me, how did they start making Cars in the 1800s?
