Sassy witches and smoldering vampires will be making beautiful, and possibly melodramatic, television on ABC and the CW. Celebrate with two behind-the-scenes Vampire Diaries shots.
The LA Times is reporting that Vampire Diaries, the series based on the YA series by Ljane Smith, has been picked up by the CW. The story revolves around a girl torn between two vampire brothers - one good, one evil (go with the evil one!) Ian Somerhalder (Boone from Lost) plays one of the brothers, and will no doubt give the old Chuck Bass a run for his money. Also this begs mentioning: both the actors playing the love interests are about 7 to 10 years older than the main character girl, Nina Dobrev (pictured). Ah Hollywood.
Director Marcos Siega twittered these set pics while in the midst of filming. Looks like a few story boards of the brothers and the lovely main character (with a different shade of hair).
In other happy supernatural news, John Updike's novel the Witches of Eastwick, which was already a movie starring Jack Nicholson and Cher, is reportedly getting picked up by ABC. The new cast of witches include Lindsay Price, Jaime Ray Newman, and Rebecca Romjin. Paul Gross will be taking over Jack's old role.
