The Mac mini’s buzz has subsided a bit, but it remains one of the better options for those needing a cheap server that meshes well in an entertainment center. Add some stackable external hard drives like the just released 500GB MiniMax ($280) and you’re in for a treat. The MiniMax, which is the same size as the Mac mini, also integrates a USB 2.0 and FireWire hub for added expandability. Sure, really big hard drives like this aren’t exactly attention getters, but good heavens, think of how many, um, documentaries you can fit on this thing. To be exact, 750 hours worth.
