Do we really need anime Halo stories? If they’re created by the likes of Appleseed Ex Machina’s Shinji Aramaki and Cowboy Bebop’s Dai Sato, then yes. Check out some footage below.
Halo Legends, which comes out Feb. 16 according to Amazon, is an anthology of seven animated stories in the Halo universe, similar to The Animatrix or Batman: Gotham Nights. And one of them, “The Package,” was animated by Casio Entertainment under the supervision of Appleseed Ex Machina director Shinji Aramaki, from a script by Cowboy Bebop writer Dai Sato.
Here’s how Warner Bros. describes it:
“The Package” finds Master Chief and four specially-selected Spartans launched out of a stealth cruiser and into the heart of a giant Covenant fleet in a bid to recover a valuable intelligence asset. The episode is a showcase for the Spartans’ impressive fighting capabilities, whether it be hand-to-hand combat, ground assaults, or in zero-G while piloting never-before-seen light attack vehicles.

Halo Legends will be available on DVD, BluRay or 2-disc special edition. The two-disc edition includes making-of documentaries for each of the animated segments, plus a documentary about Halo fiction from the first game up to Halo 3.
