A Sheeptacular Keyboard

KOERNER — New Zealand’s Canesis, which describes itself as a “wool research group,” has developed a textile-based keyboard, perfect for weaving into seat covers, hospital beds, or cardigans. The cloth, designed in conjunction with Britain’s Softswitch, responds to minute changes in tactile pressure — the harder you press a key, the more electricity the fabric conducts. The woolly keyboard is expected to generate massive royalties for New Zealand’s 12,500 sheep farmers, who collectively own a huge chunk of Canesis. The sheep themselves will each receive a congratulatory dip in a bath of parasite-killing chemicals.
