When the Surface RT launched, the most exciting hardware feature was the Touch Cover, a slick cover-keyboard hybrid. However, it cost an extra $120, which is a lot for a practically obligatory feature. Microsoft's online store is now giving them away with a Surface RT purchase, which is the way it always should have been.

The Surface RT—which, unlike the Surface Pro, doesn't run a full version of Windows 8—is a very handsome tablet. Sure, there are issues, but for the most part it's a premium device with the chamfered edges to back it up. I've been looking for Surface sales since they came out, but they're far and few between.

A free Touch Cover or Type Cover is actually a fairly significant discount, because it wouldn't really be a Surface without the cover. In fact, the vast majority of Microsoft's marketing focused on the cover. So the Surface, as it should be, is $500 from Microsoft's online store—finally. [Microsoft]

Apple's iMacs are On Sale Again

Apple's developer conference WWDC is next week, and there are a lot of rumors flying around. One major question is whether Apple will refresh the Mac line with sweet new Haswell processors. So before you buy a new Mac, you might want to wait to see if that pans out.

But if you need a new computer today, you should know that both Best Buy and Amazon dropped the price of the entry-level iMac $150 last night. This matches other sales we've seen, but it's still a discount on iMac—so check it out if you're in the market. [Best Buy, Amazon]
