A Twisted Movie Called Doctors Just Got an Amazing Director

There’s a bunch of good news here so let’s get right to it. Mike Cahill, the talented director of the amazing scifi films Another Earth and I Origins, is returning to the genre he loves. He’s helming Doctors, based on a graphic novel by Dash Shaw, and if you don’t know the premise, it’s awesome.

Doctors is about a group of, you guessed it, doctors, who have figured out a way to enter a person’s brain after he or she dies and temporarily bring the patient back to life. Then one woman pays for them to do that to her mother—except mom doesn’t want to come back.

That’s a morbid, but rich idea and under the watch of Cahill, it’s a very exciting combination. David Goyer is producing the adaptation for 20th Century Fox.

Oh, and if you are reading this post and have NOT seen Another Earth or I, Origins? Get on that shit now. Cahill does what most of us only dream of. He makes small, smart, important science fiction films that have been some of the most thought-provoking works to hit the big screen in decades. Which is why this project sounds so damn good.
