Giovanni Battista Bracelli’s etchings break the human body down into weird shapes and distort our form in ways that remain disturbing to this day. He influenced the cubist art of Picasso and others, plus Dalí’s surrealism — but his work is still unique, nearly 400 years after it was published.

Bracelli lived from c. 1600-1650 and published his geographic artworks in a book titled “Bizarie di varie figure” (Peculiarity of Various Figures) in 1624.
