In an apparent effort to win back some headlines after Beyoncé’s new album broke iTunes last night, Amazon has compiled its best-selling music of all time in the categories of songs, MP3 albums, and physical CDs. It’s not exactly what you’d expect.

Adele sits at the top of the physical compact disc list, joined by Susan Boyle, Alison Krauss, and a bunch of other artists listened to by the kind of people who still buy CDs. Elementary school teachers? Who knows! Here’s the full rundown for compact discs:
1) 21 – Adele
2) I Dreamed a Dream – Susan Boyle
3) Raising Sand – Robert Plant & Alison Krauss
5) Sigh No More – Mumford & Sons
6) Fearless – Taylor Swift
7) Back to Black – Amy Winehouse
8) 19 – Adele
9) Taking the Long Way – Dixie Chicks
10) Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends – Coldplay
Best-selling MP3 albums are a little more predictable, considering most people you know are buying music in this format. It also reads like the shortlist for Apple keynote musical guests:
1) Born This Way – Lady Gaga*
2) Sigh No More – Mumford & Sons
3) The Lumineers – The Lumineers
4) 21 – Adele
5) Mylo Xyloto – Coldplay
6) Some Nights (Explicit) – Fun
7) My Head Is An Animal – Of Monsters and Men
8) El Camino – The Black Keys
9) Speak Now – Taylor Swift
10) The Suburbs – Arcade Fire
* A little unfair comparison, since Amazon offered it for a dollar when it launched to help boost its MP3 store visibility.
