Karen Fukuhara tells CBR not to expect much backstory from Katana in the film:
It helps a lot when you know the backstory of her character, because in this movie, I don’t think you see much of that.
But she goes on to describe her ethos in the movie:
She’s not into fighting for herself. It’s for someone else. And when someone doesn’t care about her own well-being — to kill someone else and to protect someone — that makes her the scariest one. Try fighting someone that doesn’t care about what the outcome is for them, you know? You’re going against someone who’s going to give it their all no matter how many times you shoot at them. That’s why she’s so badass.
Sony has set the film for an August 18th, 2017 release. [Coming Soon]
Spidey swings into action in this (rather grainy) video from the set.
Here are a few new TV spots:
Another update from the set, courtesy of Mark Ruffalo:
The movie’s IMAX poster has been revealed. [Coming Soon]
New set pictures have emerged from filming, featuring the newly revealed look of Keiynan Lonsdale suited up as Kid Flash in action.
But most intriguingly, Kid Flash appears to be battling a new speedster, clad in an all-black take on the Flash uniform that has yet to be identified. Whoever it is, it’s probably safe to assume that they’re going to be a major villain in the next season of the show—could the recently cast Tom Felton be under the mask?
Tyler Hoechlin says he’s looking forward to playing a Superman with a “clean slate”:
It’s definitely incredibly humbling and flattering to even be given the chance to do it. And I think, I’m just going to do as much as I can to see how to bring the true spirit of the character to the show. I’m excited to just kind of look at it from doing it with a clean slate and not trying to replicate or duplicate anything that’s been done, but just being honest to the story and how they’re writing him.
Meanwhile continuing his campaign to direct an episode of every CW DC show, Kevin Smith has set his eyes on Supergirl as an option next:
I heard whispers of Supergirl, as well. I would love to go up there especially now that it’s on CW and you get to cross reference the other shows and shit like that.
Alyssa Sutherland joins the cast as Eve Cunningham, “a wife and mother who fights to protect her teenage daughter from unknown dangers lurking both inside and outside the mist, while also facing down her past.” [TV Line]
Finally, Stephen Amell has shared a new picture from filming season five, featuring Oliver Queen’s bloodied abs. Presumably this is from the show’s next series of flashback sequences, which will go back to Ollie’s time working with the Russian mob.
