Last week at Comic-Con, Marvel announced the official title for the second Captain America film: Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And hot on the heels of this announcement comes another Marvel bombshell — The Falcon will be joining Steve Rogers on his adventure, potentially played by The Hurt Locker’s Anthony Mackie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mackie is in talks to join Sebastian Stan — who is returning to his role as Bucky — onscreen as Sam Wilson, better known as the superhero The Falcon. He will no doubt help Steve Rogers fight his erstwhile buddy Bucky, who is mind-controlled by Soviet Russia.
Remember that we never saw Bucky die in Captain America: The First Avenger — he merely fell into an icy river from a train. In comic book lore, Bucky was later discovered by the Russians, nursed back to health with the super serum and cybernetics, and brainwashed into fighting for the Soviets.
Captain America: The Winter Solider will be taking place in modern times, post-Avengers, so it should be interesting to see how cinematic Bucky makes it to the present. The Winter Soldier will be out April 4, 2014.
