So after all the hoopla over iPod Nano screens cracking for some people, Apple was kind enough to respond. Summed up, it’s pretty much:

Dear Valued Customer,

Hahahahaha.

Sincerely,

Apple Computer Inc.

But Apple does have a nice side, they will of course fix the ones whose screens broke which is good. Apple claims that only 1/10 of 1 percent of the Nanos suffer from this flaw. That’s a very small percentage and if true, is nothing to really respond to. For the full Apple press quote, see after the jump.

Phil Schiller (senior vice president worldwide product marketing for Apple):

This is a real but minor issue involving a vendor quality problem in a small number of units. We have received very few calls from customers reporting this problem. We do not think this is a widespread issue.

[…]

Our figures show this issue has affected less than 1/10 of 1 percent of the total iPod nano units that we’ve shipped. It is not a design issue.
