What's the deal with Siri and abortion? Well, Apple told the NY Times that Siri, the iPhone 4S' personal assistant extraordinaire, wasn't against abortion, didn't have a pro life bias and wasn't part of some sort of conspiracy. Instead, Apple blamed the odd omissions on Siri being a beta product.

The official word, as relayed by Natalie Kerris, a spokeswoman for Apple, to the Times is that the lack of abortion clinic listings is a glitch in a beta product:

"Our customers want to use Siri to find out all types of information, and while it can find a lot, it doesn't always find what you want. These are not intentional omissions meant to offend anyone. It simply means that as we bring Siri from beta to a final product, we find places where we can do better, and we will in the coming weeks."

I'm going to assume that means Siri will be able to perform an abortion for you in the coming weeks. Kidding! [NY Times]
