Apple’s expected iPod updates happened today, with mostly capacity and pricing tweaks with no major upgrades. The new iPod mini is available in four colors (they dropped gold) in two sizes: 4GB for $200, and 6GB for $250. There are also two iPod photo models, a slim 30GB model for $350, and a new 60GB model for $450.
The expected color-screened minis didn’t happen, although the 30GB iPod photo is probably going to be a nice seller. It’s the first photo model that hasn’t seemed ridiculously priced and replaces the 40GB monochrome model, which is now only available in 20GB. The new minis also have a greatly improved battery life, up to 18hours, from just 8.
Update: Interesting and necessary. (Thanks, Daniel!)
