We've heard rumors of longer iTunes song previews, but it looks like Apple is finally preparing to begin offering them. Soon you'll be able to enjoy a whoppin' 90 second preview of any song over 2.5 minutes in length.

Shorter songs will still have previews lasting only 30 seconds, but that's just something we'll have to live with.

We don't know when the longer song previews will roll out, but considering that Apple is informing music labels of the change right now, it shouldn't take too long. [MacRumors]

I get full album previews via torrent. My method is, I dl the album and listen to it once. If I like it, I buy the actual physical CD. If I don't, I shift+delete all the tracks. Hell, if I do buy the CD, I shift+delete all the tracks and re-encode using my own preferences anyway.

I equate this to my friend buying an awesome Nada Surf CD back in the day, letting me borrow it, and me handing it back to him and saying, "No thanks man, not for me," or "Holy Shit, I'm going to buy this today!"
