Asus Chairman Johnny Shih has just slipped an exciting new product out of his briefcase at tech event AsiaD—the long-rumored updated EeePad Transformer Android tablet. It’s almost as exciting as the epic teaser trailer.

Confirming that the previously rumoured Transformer 2 will indeed arrive powered by a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, Shih said the updated Transformer is only 8.3mm thick, with a mini HDMI output and 10.1″ display, along with your usual Android connections. But that’s all he said. We’ll know more on November 9th, when Asus will officially unveil its new tablet.

Meanwhile, Johnny also gave fans of the excellent original Transformer EeePad reason to cheer — their units will get an upgrade to the Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” version of the OS before the end of the year and, according to Johnny, it’ll arrive “maybe earlier than that.” [AllThingsD via Gizmodo UK]
