Two days ago, an earthquake hit the island of Haiti, claiming thousands of lives and destroying huge parts of Port-au-Prince. But among the collapsed city buildings, a tent city of survivors is growing.
The island hadn't been struck by an earthquake in over a century, and was unprepared for such a disaster. The three-story presidential palace has been reduced to a crushed single story. And many favelas have crumbled. Aid is pouring in from all over the world, and donations to relief agencies are being accepted in every single electronic medium - including text message.
