Beats Electronics got control of a lot of digital music rights and technology when it acquired the streaming music service MOG last year. Now, Beats is launching a new service—Project Daisy—to sell you beats by every artist you can think of.

According to the release, the project was developed under the direction of Trent Reznor. One objective is to solve the puzzle facing the music industry—making money, for example, by selling you concert tickets and other products associated with the artist you're listening to.

There's still no word on when the service will launch.

Beats headphones are MASSIVELY overpriced.

I used to be a sales rep at Best Buy. Our employee discount allowed us to buy items at cost + 5%, and it was capped at a maximum of 50% off retail price. Both models of Beats headphones we carried at the time rang in at 50% off for employees.

That means that at LEAST half of the money you pay towards these headphones is pure profit.
