Belkin has announced the SportCommand for iPod. This is a wireless iPod remote control that is built to be extremely durable and resistant. The remote has big buttons and is attached to an armband that can fit comfortably around the bare arm or even a jacket. It has controls for play/pause, next/previous track and volume. It is compatible with the majority of iPod models. The SportCommand will retail for $80 and ship to North America in November.

Sounds like a great gadget just in time for ski and snowboard season.

DISCUSSION

I just replaced all my snowboard gear, and was looking for something to fill this role. I was in Target the other day and they had these back-packs on sale for $14 with built in iPod control on the shoulder strap.

Sure its the cheapest and nastiest piece of kit i'll be wearing on the slopes, but nothing like a bit of 'low end theory' taking over now and again.

The bag is OK, and if worse comes to worse, i'll hack the control out of the strap and wrap it around my wrist, but then i'd have no place to put my chocolate bars.
