Let’s begin with their ease of use because website builders should emphasize that.
Wix
Wix and Squarespace are pretty similar. However, Wix is likely the simplest of all. It lets you start for free thanks to a free website builder. Once you sign up, which takes a minute, Wix asks you how you want to build your site.
You can use Wix ADI and let the AI handle everything. Conversely, you can pick from 900+ free templates and work your way up. Wix’s interface is highly intuitive, with all options and settings on the left-hand side.
The middle portion of the screen contains your to-do list, and we appreciate the SEO Checklist, which highlights your most vital SEO tasks. Wix’s website-creation process is straightforward.
You can manage your products, email marketing, SEO, and website design with no hassle. Best of all, the start-up process is welcoming, ensuring beginners easily find their way.
Squarespace
Squarespace lets you initiate a 14-day trial and pay nothing to use it.
After you sign up, it’ll treat you similarly to Wix. Immediately make a website manually, with a template, or let Squarespace’s AI do things for you. We like Wix’s ADI a tad more, as it’s “smarter” and better reads our minds. However, Squarespace is by no means bad.
After all, you can use an AI-made site, apply additional edits, and package it the way you want. Squarespace’s interface is intuitive enough, perhaps more so than Wix’s.
You’ll find all settings on the left, from scheduling, products, and services to marketing, analytics, invoicing, and more. We’ll discuss website design solely later in this GoDaddy vs Wix vs Squarespace battle. As you’ll see, it may be the simplest of all three!
GoDaddy
We like GoDaddy’s direct approach. Like the previous two, it lets you start for free, but it’ll immediately help you build a website. First, it’ll ask you what the site is about, what your goals are, etc. This information is necessary for GoDaddy’s AI.
As explained previously, it’ll make a website based on your answers. However, you can skip it altogether, pick a template, and make the website yourself.
You’ll notice that GoDaddy’s website management interface is equally intuitive. The self-hiding menu on the left is handy, and you can unwrap it by placing an arrow on the left side of the screen. You’ll see domains, appointments, marketing, SEO tools, and more.
Meanwhile, the home screen displays vital information about your visitors, sales, orders, social views, and more. GoDaddy doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t need to. It relies on a tried-and-tested formula.
Verdict: All Three Are Easy to Use
During our Wix vs Squarespace vs GoDaddy comparison, we struggled to pick the winner. All three were equally straightforward, with AI companions for site-building and one-minute sign-up processes. They all had intuitive dashboards for effortless site management.
Website Templates: Which is the Best?
In our Wix vs Squarespace vs GoDaddy comparison, we carefully analyzed their templates. However, it didn’t take long to figure out Wix’s excellence.
This exceptional site maker offers over 900 templates, and all are free. Whether you’re on its premium or free version, all 900 will be readily available. All you must do is click the one you want, and Wix will prepare it.
Wix’s in-depth categorization makes finding the right one fairly simple. You can also use the search bar to locate more specific templates, for instance, ones for church websites or photography portfolios.
One thing we must praise is Wix’s design, as nearly all templates look amazing and are fully editable via its website editor. They’re modern, cleverly designed, and rarely outdated.
Squarespace, however, offers around 200 templates. They’re stunning, and you can tell Squarespace’s designers are paid well. While they’re not the most ubiquitous, we can confidently say they’re among the best-designed site templates.
Enjoy Free Squarespace Templates
In fact, we’d venture to say they’re often better-looking than Wix’s. They’re somehow very elegant, modern, and straightforward, yet so functional and smooth. It’s a shame that Squarespace has “only” 200.
Finally, there’s GoDaddy, which is a notch below the two. It has a similar number of templates (compared to Squarespace), and the design language isn’t far off. We’d appreciate more in-depth categorization, though.
Plus, some of GoDaddy’s templates look a bit bland, but for the most part, GoDaddy holds up pretty well. Overall, all three are better than Weebly, whose outdated templates don’t hold much relevance in 2026.
Verdict: Wix Has the Most, Squarespace Has the Best Templates
There you have it. We’d choose Wix for the sheer number of templates, while Squarespace is a bit better on the design front. However, as Wix offers at least four times more templates than Squarespace and GoDaddy, you’re more likely to find a template that meets your demands.
Site Editing: Wix vs Squarespace vs GoDaddy
What’s the site creation process like with these three?
To answer this question, we tested them by building at least a dozen sites with all three combined. Here are our observations:
Wix Site Editor
Wix is the ultimate website builder, which offers all the freedom you need to make an outstanding website. Unlike section-based editors, this drag-and-drop editor provides more freedom to express your design language.
Sometimes, for the worse, especially if you’re a newbie.
It offers many options, elements, and design possibilities. Plus, there’s room for error, as you can virtually destroy the template by dragging and dropping things around. However, if you have a design knack, you can make something truly unique.
Wix simplifies things with AI, which works wonderfully.
We love its AI Section Creator, but the AI Theme Assistant may be better for pairing your website’s niche with an adequate theme. Wix allows you to edit both desktop and mobile versions, even though it offers responsive themes.
But hey, it’s always good to have more than fewer possibilities.
Squarespace Site Editor
Squarespace is a bit more constrained, and that’s good and bad.
Bad if you’re experienced and want more freedom. Good if you’re a beginner and want to build a site quickly and without hassle. Squarespace is more of a section-based builder with pre-defined sections that you can fully edit.
However, you get ample possibilities here, as you can change fonts or colors, insert new elements, and even add animations. Squarespace’s elements, like photo galleries, can also be inserted, making it a decent option for building a wedding site.
In our testing, Squarespace was more of a foolproof site builder than Wix. Whatever you do, chances are you won’t mess up your site. Look at many Squarespace-designed sites and you’ll notice they’re all pitch-perfect.
GoDaddy Site Editor
GoDaddy is eerily similar to Weebly; thankfully, it’s not that outdated.
Like Squarespace, it emphasizes section-based editing, where you can modify text, background, fonts, colors, images, etc. Even the page layout can be altered, providing a bit more freedom.
Unfortunately, it’s yet to match Wix.
GoDaddy still keeps you chained to certain constraints, not allowing you to stray too much off the beaten path. In other words, the way the default template looks is how your site will also look, with a few minor differences.
Does that mean you can’t make a unique website? Sort of, but if you don’t care about that, good for you. If you do, and don’t like GoDaddy’s similar-looking themes, opt for Wix or Squarespace.
Verdict: Wix Has the Best Site Editor
Although Wix has the overall best site editor, we’re inclined not to immediately say it’s best for everyone. Pick it for more design possibilities, or choose Squarespace or GoDaddy for a more intuitive, but also more constrained site creation with fewer design choices.
Which One is Best for E-commerce?
If you want to sell online, which site builder should you choose: Wix, Squarespace, or GoDaddy? Our choice falls to Wix, and in this comparison, we’ll explain why.
Wix
Wix is comparable to Shopify in terms of ecommerce, which is no small feat.
Shopify is likely the best pick, so us saying that Wix is up there is commendable. This site creator allows you to sell up to 50,000 products, including both digital and physical items. You can also sell subscription services and schedule appointments.
In addition, Wix provides convenient features like customer reviews, product variants, customizable shipping, access to dropshipping, POS, Wix Payments, and more. Not to mention, Wix allows you to add discount codes and customize your checkout page.
Another perk is multi-channel selling, which allows you to sell your services and products on social media. Meanwhile, there’s a vast selection of third-party ecommerce apps, extending Wix’s capabilities further.
More about that later.
One thing we found impressive was Wix’s scalability. Thanks to 0% transaction fees (only third-party payment methods have them), Wix is great for small and large online stores. You don’t have to sell much to profit, as is the case with Shopify.
Best of all, Wix’s convenience in creating an online store shines, thanks to the AI, which helps with product descriptions and photos. This means Wix is advantageous in online store creation, selling, and scaling down the line.
Squarespace
Squarespace is excellent for online sales, but not as scalable as Wix.
Depending on the plan, its transaction fees range from 0% to 3% (cheaper plans). Other than that, Squarespace offers similar ecommerce features, like selling physical or digital products, setting appointments with Acuity Scheduling, and multi-channel selling.
During our Squarespace review, we enjoyed its customizable shipping, with the option for local delivery and POS access, which Wix also offers. Squarespace allows for unlimited collaborators to make maintaining your store simpler.
Plus, you get features like abandoned cart recovery, inventory management, a few decent third-party ecommerce tools, discount codes, automatic tax calculation, and more. However, Squarespace lacks the storefront translation prowess that we’ve seen in Wix.
It’s Squarespace’s common weakness!
This means Wix will be better for international stores. Another lost point is in inventory management, which is pretty basic compared to Wix. Be mindful of Squarespace’s ecommerce features, which differ based on the plan.
You’ll have to splurge more to get its best features. However, even then, Squarespace doesn’t have what it takes to handle larger online stores, rendering Wix a lot better overall.
GoDaddy
Lastly, we have GoDaddy as the least impressive option.
Don’t get us wrong: it’s great for small stores and basic functionalities. It also offers a mobile website builder to help you manage your store. With unlimited products and secure payment methods, GoDaddy doesn’t lack much.
Like Wix, the site builder has no transaction fees by default, if we exclude third-party payment vendor fees. It also includes things like gift cards, auto-inventory, sales tracking, real-time shipping rates, and more.
Beginners will also have an easy time setting their store up and adding products and descriptions. However, GoDaddy lacks more comprehensive inventory management and doesn’t provide access to dropshipping.
GoDaddy isn’t very scalable, and disappointingly, it isn’t great for international selling, as it also lacks intricate storefront translation tools. With GoDaddy, you’ll successfully lead a small business.
If you want to move up the totem pole, that’s when you’ll see GoDaddy’s shortcomings.
Verdict: Pick Wix Over Squarespace and GoDaddy
Wix is the overall winner as the best ecommerce site builder. It’s adequate for both small and large businesses. Squarespace is a notch or two below, while GoDaddy and its limited features make it suited only to small online stores.
Marketing and SEO Tools
What’s a website or online store without proper marketing and SEO?
Nothing, you guessed it.
Fortunately, Wix, Squarespace, and GoDaddy realized that long before us and acted accordingly by introducing a decent number of these tools.
Marketing
Regarding marketing, Wix has plenty going on.
We mentioned multi-channel selling, which is a form of marketing on other social media channels. However, Wix includes free email marketing, letting you send 200 emails monthly. It offers excellent email templates to make your business stand out.
Additionally, its App Store houses countless other tools, allowing you to drive more sales through ads, in-depth analytics, and social media.
Squarespace’s email marketing is paid extra for. It’s called precisely that: Squarespace Email Marketing, and costs $7 monthly. You can send 500 monthly emails, enjoy countless templates, and get limitless automation options.
Third-party plugins are there, but not nearly as many as in Wix’s case.
Finally, there’s GoDaddy with free email marketing that allows you to send marketing campaigns to 25,000 users monthly. It’s extremely generous, more so than Wix and Squarespace.
SEO
Wix has some of the best SEO tools we’ve seen in a website builder.
You can edit your Robots.txt file and take various actions based on Wix’s SEO Checklist to fully optimize your site. For instance, you can alter meta descriptions and alt tags while also optimizing your images for faster loading.
One of the most impressive aspects is the ability to use third-party tools.
Did you know that Wix integrates with Semrush for keyword research? It also works with Google Analytics to receive vital metrics. Wix also works with Microsoft Clarity, letting you track user behaviors through heatmaps.
Add in more third-party apps through Wix’s store, and your SEO will never suffer!
Squarespace has a similar SEO checklist and even uses AI to help you optimize your website. Moreover, Squarespace automatically creates your sitemap and allows you to edit descriptions and meta titles.
Improved search engine indexing comes from structured data markup, while automatic mobile optimization ensures higher ranking and adheres to Google’s best SEO practices.
Finally, we’ll discuss GoDaddy and its SEO Wizard, which helps you discover keywords and optimize your titles and meta descriptions. Apart from that, GoDaddy is a bit basic, and if we exclude its Google Analytics integration, it doesn’t actually offer much.
By not offering much, we don’t think offering nothing. You can still apply basic edits, but as GoDaddy lacks third-party SEO plugins, don’t expect miracles.
Verdict: Wix is the Best Choice for SEO and Marketing
Wix beats both Squarespace and GoDaddy here, offering the most extensive SEO and marketing tools. While Squarespace does come close, GoDaddy is the least impressive and doesn’t offer much for the price (except for email marketing).
Plugins and Applications
Wix and Squarespace have a notable advantage over GoDaddy if you appreciate and need third-party integrations and applications. Wix is above both, with over 500 apps on its App Market, all deployable within minutes.
The provider’s apps are rarely free, but most can be used for free, at least for a certain period. Its apps are insanely comprehensive, with categories like SEO, marketing, website design, ads, and communication.
All apps have user reviews, allowing you to separate the good from the bad. Although admittedly, very few can be considered outright bad.
Squarespace has a plugin store, but it’s nowhere near as extensive as Wix’s. It still provides something extra, like Mailchimp, Printful’s Custom Merch, Xero, and other famous apps. However, you get, at best, about 50 apps in four categories.
But hey, GoDaddy has nothing on the table! It offers a variety of first-party add-ons, like email marketing, website security, logo designer, etc. They’re not the cheapest and definitely not as comprehensive as Wix’s and Squarespace’s applications and plugins.
Verdict: Wix Has the Most Apps and Plugins
This is a no-brainer: Wix takes this round by a long shot. With over 500 apps in multiple categories, Wix excels in versatility and takes your website to another level. Squarespace is in the second spot, but really, it’s more of a distant second.
Price Comparison: Wix vs Squarespace vs GoDaddy
The price of making a website doesn’t have to reach hundreds, or God forbid, thousands of dollars. All three website builders are known to be fairly inexpensive, at least compared to an experienced web designer.
In this Squarespace vs Wix vs GoDaddy comparison, we examined their prices and found which one offers the best value for money:
Wix Pricing
Wix starts at $17 monthly, but if you wish to sell online, you’ll spend $29 on the Core plan.
These are annual term prices, so multiply them by 12, and that’s how much you’ll spend annually. However, Wix lets you change the terms and extend your renewal to two or three years. Or reduce it to a month, in which case, the price will increase.
Save Big With Wix Annual Plans
Wix’s plans include a free domain and generous storage and bandwidth. Are they the cheapest site builder offers? Far from it. Especially the Business plan, Wix’s best offer, which costs $36 monthly.
Wix offers a free plan and a 14-day money-back guarantee for premium plans.
Squarespace Pricing
Squarespace starts at a dollar less: $16 monthly for the Personal plan.
To sell online, you’ll need $23 monthly for the Business plan. Since this one has 3% transaction fees, we’d jump to the Commerce Basic plan with 0% and a price of $28 monthly.
As you can see, Squarespace is notably cheaper. Even its range-topping plan at $52 monthly is roughly three times less expensive than Wix’s equivalent. On the flip side, Squarespace doesn’t have a free plan, although there’s a 14-day trial.
Like Wix, Squarespace includes a free domain for the first year.
GoDaddy Pricing
GoDaddy only has two subscription plans, but they cost less than Wix and Squarespace.
The Basic plan is $9.99 monthly, while the Premium plan is $14.99 monthly. Neither allows you to sell online, but you can connect a custom domain, leverage AI tools, and enjoy email marketing, one of the best in the business.
GoDaddy’s Premium plan is sort of ecommerce-ready, but not entirely.
You can book appointments and events, and take payments and deposits. However, when you switch to the Commerce plan at $20.99, you can take full advantage of GoDaddy’s features. On paper, GoDaddy is less expensive than both rivals.
Sadly, this isn’t true for renewal prices that dramatically increase after the first year. For instance, the Premium plan is roughly $30 monthly, so you’ll pay roughly double the price.
Verdict: Squarespace Is the Cheapest
Squarespace is a golden middle, offering exceptional value for money. It’s affordable and feature-rich, with modest renewal prices. Meanwhile, Wix is the priciest option (but worth the money), while GoDaddy charges exorbitant renewal prices, making it the least favorable pick.
Customer Support
Reputable website builders offer range-topping customer support. Should things go south, you’ll always get help. During this Squarespace vs GoDaddy vs Wix comparison, we were satisfied with customer support.
In fact, all three offer:
