Record execs are reportedly keen to shoot Jay-Z and Beyonce into space, to record the first ever orbital music video.

According to The Sun (so please take this with a grain of salt) “label heads” have been trying to convince Richard Branson to shoot a duet music video while zooming around in his Virgin Galactic spaceship (for space tourists). Virgin has said that Virgin Galactic would be up and running within the end of 2012, so now’s the time to book seats for billionaires.

The Sun reveals their plan to film during the six minutes of passenger weightlessness the folks aboard Virgin Galactic will experience when they briefly leave Earth’s atmosphere.

From a source: “The label people have been talking about making a music video in space. Beyonce and Jay-Z seemed the obvious option. Everything is being done to make it happen.”

Tickets are selling for a mere $200,000 each, so really it’s their fault if they don’t act now. We’d rather have Beyonce and Jay-Z be the first musicians in space, over Ke$ha any day.
