Click to viewGive back. Appreciate community. Raise your son to become an extraordinarily wealthy tech scion/genius/philanthropist. Besides that last one, these are the messages Bill Gates Sr. had for the 2010 graduating class of University of Washington, his alma mater.

His speech shows him to be a wise and caring man, and it’s easy to see how he raised a son who had the fortitude to shape an entire industry and the compassion to dedicate himself to bettering the world after that.

Gates’ recently published memoir, Showing Up For Life: Thoughts on the Gifts of a Lifetime, sheds plenty more light on his life (and raising Bill Jr.), and would make a nice Father’s Day gift this weekend, as long as you’re not Steve Jobs’ kid. [CBS]
