The Electric Moto Blade is an battery-powered all-electric motocross bike which can be tuned to a variety of torque programs, providing power enough for fifteen-foot jumps or low-power, extended-range trail rides. The Hawker fast-charge battery amps up in just 30 minutes, and the whole assembly can be hosed off without damaging the electronics (assuming the battery is unplugged). Base pricing for the built-to-order Blade starts at $5,499, and goes up depending on trim, suspension, and accessories options. Although the blaring blap blap of two-cycle bikes is half the charm of motocross, the Blade opens up a range of interesting options, including in-city practice without disturbing neighbors, and de-tuned ‘learning mode’ engine patterns that would allow first-time riders to ride in relative safety. [Thanks, Andrew!]
Update: Paul Bissex wrote to let me know the ‘i’ in ‘iBlade’ was just a marketing gimmick to promote their new choice of iMac-like colors. I have updated the rest of the article to reflect this information. I’m glad I’m not the only one who makes jokes other people don’t get.
