Bose Pulls a No-Margin Move on SoundLink Plus Portable Bluetooth Speaker at Its Lowest Price for Prime Day

If you have “waterproof portable Bluetooth speaker with great sound and a long battery life” on your Prime Day shopping list, that’s one you can cross off ahead of time. Amazon’s dropped the price on one of the very best — the Bose SoundLink Plus — to just $179 for Prime Day. That’s a healthy 33% drop off from the list price of $269.

Sound is the central argument for the SoundLink Plus over competing mid-size speakers at this price. Bose built it around a full-range driver and passive radiator configuration that produces real bass weight for a speaker this portable. The signature Bose sound runs warm and present, with enough low-end to carry across a patio or beach without the hollowness that plagues smaller drivers pushed toward their limits. Volume headroom is solid as well, staying controlled at higher levels where cheaper speakers start to distort and fuzz out.

Poolside Powerhouse

The IP67 rating covers full dust protection and submersion up to one meter for 30 minutes. This is a step above the IP55 or IP56 protection most competing speakers carry. The difference? IP55 handles heavy rain; IP67 handles accidental drops into a pool or cooler. Bose also added shock and rust resistance, so the exterior holds up to hard surfaces and prolonged salt air exposure. A carrying loop integrated into the housing keeps it manageable in one hand on the way to the car or down to the water.

The SoundLink Plus battery life is rated at 20 hours, with a full recharge taking approximately 5 hours over USB-C. The same USB-C port doubles as a charge-out port, which means you can run a cable from the speaker to a phone when you need a top-off in the field, and the speaker handles the reverse-charging role without forcing you to pause playback.

The Bose Standard

The Bose app opens up a three-band EQ covering bass, mid-range, and treble individually, along with battery monitoring, software updates, and device management. Pairing extends past a single unit: Connect two SoundLink Plus speakers in Stereo Mode to separate channels between them, or use Party Mode to play the same audio from both simultaneously. Bose’s SimpleSync technology adds the option to pull the speaker into a larger audio setup, connecting it to compatible Bose soundbars and home speakers through the app for room-to-room audio if that is part of your home setup.

After the Amazon 33% deal comes off the list price, the SoundLink Plus goes up against the JBL Charge 6 and the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom. The JBL costs less and matches it on battery life; the Hyperboom generates more volume ceiling but at a higher price. Bose’s consistent advantage is tonal balance and build finish. At $200, the SoundLink Plus narrows the value gap with the JBL enough that sound quality becomes the decisive argument, and that’s one Bose seldom loses.
