Boutique Filling Stations for an Age of Luxury Gas

As rising gas and oil prices turn driving into the transportation equivalent of Prada bags, it makes sense that gas stations will start to look like high-end boutiques. Here is a perfect example of a twenty-first century gas station in Los Angeles, built with “green” materials to look like a modern art museum.

Business Week has a whole gallery of parking garages, gas stations, and car dealerships that have the ritzy gallery flair. In fifty years, the only place we may see cars is in museums, so these lovely structures (below you can see a Vancouver parkade that looks like the Guggenheim Museum) may be more prescient than their architects realized.
