Bradley Cooper told us that Dan Simmons’ acclaimed Hyperion Cantos were among his favorite books. And now he’s putting his new star power from Hangover II’s huge success towards writing and directing a Hyperion movie.

Cooper was on Charlie Rose the other day, and he revealed that he and a friend have written a treatment for a Hyperion movie, and are possibly writing the script. And he wants to direct:
My friend and I, Conal Byrne, went to Graham King […] and we wrote a treatment on spec, saying, ‘Look, I know this is a very audacious endeavor, but can you just read this spec we wrote? We think we have a way in to tell the story. So we wrote it and now we’re negotiating to write the script for it.
