Personally, I think this turntable looks like a really poor attempt at making a cake look like a tree trunk candle, but apparently it's $28,400 worth of audiophilic record-playing quality. It's only Audio Consulting's entry-level model mind you—the mind boggles at the thought of what they'd price their high-end model at.

It only uses 2 watts of battery power when in use, but does that justify the price? No sirree. Does the fact it's made from wood, which supposedly gives it a better sound quality, mean you should forego a brand new car and get this R-evolution Minima instead? Probably not. But wait! It looks like a tree trunk candle/cake! Suddenly I understand. [Audio Consulting via On-Top Audio via Born Rich]

ou are spending some good bucks on a piece of passé technology like a turntable, you undoubtedly want it to be the best. For all those individuals yearning for exclusivity and for a stylish reflection of personal panache, Audio Consulting's new entry-level turntable R-evolution Minima seems to be a great option. The elegant turntable boasts the same highly optimized direct drive setup and axe assembly as with the R-evolution Stealth. The turntable uses only 2 watts of power during operation.

Smaller and simpler than the Stealth model, the R-evolution Minima turntable has its platter made of wood, which accounts for optimum sound performance. Since it runs on battery, there is no problem of perturbations caused by the main supply. Other features include a leather mat and oiled wooden frame.

The Audio Consulting's R-evolution Minima turntable sells for CHF 24,500 (about $28,400).

lets see... 2 watts of power. P=I*E so if wattage is down then either amps or voltage is up hence the power curve is still not user friendly. explain that to your local power utility.
