Off the top of your head, you can probably rattle off dozens of famous live-action film directors. In animation though, except for a very elite group, the directors are rarely the stars of the show. Two names that may not be on that list, but should, are Ron Clements and John Musker.
What have they directed? Oh, nothing much, just The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet, The Great Mouse Detective, and The Princess and The Frog. Their latest film, Moana, comes out November 23, and to celebrate their career, a brand new art show will open this weekend.
It’s called “An Art Tribute To The Disney Films Of Ron Clements & John Musker” and it’s presented by Cyclops Print Works, Gallery Nucleus, Disney Fine Art, Oh My Disney, and Walt Disney Feature Animation Studio. The show opens at 7pm on November 19 at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, CA. But before that, we’re excited to share a small portion of art from the show, a few of which have never been seen before.
