Unless you’ve been visiting one of the outer planets, you might know that I’ve got a book coming out in a week and a half. It’s called All the Birds in the Sky, and it’s the story of a witch and a mad scientist who feel all alone in the world, until they find each other. It’s a story about heroes from two different genres who dare to attempt the impossible: Saving the world, and finding a meaningful connection with another person.

I will be blogging on and off here on io9 about the process of writing this novel, including what I learned about mixing genres, over the next month or two. And I’m eager to dig into what I learned about stories and turning a shiny idea into a personal story, and all of that. To me, this novel is another chance to geek out.
