The Optia is the latest cam from Creative. It is your average ho-hum webcam—VGA resolution, tilt and swivel head, 30fps framerate, USB connectivity, privacy control, etc. There is one little feature about this cam that makes it stand out. It is completely driverless—at least with Windows XP SP2 and/or Vista. So just plug it in and begin the video pr0n, easy as pie.

DISCUSSION

And by "driverless" I'm assuming they mean "the drivers are already included in XP and Vista". I have an ancient Logitech webcam that I don't need to install Logitech software for under XP, however when I do install the software I'm presented with a bevy of new features including automatic low light adjustment and such.

In fact, at this point even a sound or video card is "driverless"... unless you want to actually use the features on the card.

My $0.02.
