Pharell in a statement hat? Check. Aerial silk? Check. Dancers doing gymnastic dance in outfits with far too long sleeves? Edgar Wright directing? Daft Punk as giant, flying, stone space ships? Check. Check. Check. Check.
This is simultaneously a very simple video — there’s one location and the elements of it don’t change that much — and one stuffed with a bunch of effects and complicated choreography. Despite all that, Wright’s direction really serves the song here. The song’s a smooth jam, and so is the video. It looks great, but doesn’t overwhelm the senses with WTF. It’s only in trying to describe it that you realize just how much went into it.
