Do These Alleged BlackBerry 10 OS Images Mean Widgets Are Coming?

Crackberry came into some supposed BlackBerry 10 OS screenshots from a tipster, which, among other things, shows off a new widget-centric UI.

The shots apparently come from a packet put together by an ad agency working for RIM, and plenty of the Playbook's QNX underpinnings can be found in the photos. The widgets themselves look like a something between WP7's live tiles, and webOS's cards. But what's reassuring about these is that, if real, show a very up-to-date looking UI for BlackBerry 10, that at least appears to be on par with what Microsoft, Google and Apple are doing. DISCUSSION

Seems to me RIM would be better off making Blackberries that run Android then creating some proprietary apps like BBM that somehow only run on their phones. So they would still be making hardware and software but they would have a many more apps available and would no longer need to spend so much time and money focused on the OS. Is this idea flawed?
