It is less comprehensive and yet emotionally rich. While Stellaris focuses on galactic history, RimWorld focuses on personal survival.
Surviving Mars takes a narrower approach, focusing mainly on the colony-building aspect found in Stellaris. Instead of ruling empires, you are in charge of one of the colonies on the red planet. You control oxygen, accommodation, food production, morale, and dust storms, which endanger everything. Although the game is more about logistics than diplomacy, it fulfills the same desire to create something that will continue on a hostile planet.
