Dr. Oz taped a special episode of his show today to defend against accusations that he’s full of shit. The episode doesn’t air until Thursday but, spoiler alert: Dr. Oz is still full of shit.

The show released a preview clip, obtained by CNN. Judging by the excerpts we have so far, Oz seems to claim that any criticism of him is tantamount to restricting his freedom of speech.

“I know I’ve irritated some potential allies in our quest to make America healthy,” Oz says in the short clip. “No matter our disagreements, freedom of speech is the most fundamental right we have as Americans. And these ten doctors are trying to silence that right.”

Those ten doctors he’s referring to are the physicians who wrote a letter to Columbia University asking him to be stripped of his titles. They took issue with the fact that Dr. Oz peddles garbage weight loss cures and is shady as hell.

And no, Dr. Oz. You have every right to say whatever you want. But your critics also have every right to call you on your bullshit. Especially when the advice you give on your show is baseless or wrong about half the time. Half the time!

You’re the one with the enormously successful TV show, Dr. Oz. So nobody is keeping you from saying whatever you like, as we’ll all see when this special episode airs on Thursday.

Sorry but as a professional you do not have the right to freedom of speech. In a personal sense sure, but professionally no, no you do not. It is your job as a physician to report what is valid and data driven, you don’t get to give people life advice because you think it seems interesting.
