Apparently all news about the new Vampire Chronicles movie adaptations will now come to us via social media. Writer-director Josh Boone tweeted the below photo of Jared Leto with the caption “Lestat – there can be only one. #JaredLeto.”

This follows an Instagram post of Boone’s that showed a completed script for Interview With the Vampire. While there haven’t been any official announcements or confirmation, Chris Rice (writer and son of Anne Rice) tweeted this earlier yesterday:

Which could have set the stage for Boone’s tweet. While this could all be one big joke—“there can be only one” is a Highlander quote, after all, we will say that the casting makes total sense, especially given the boost Leto would give the project, mainly due to his upcoming turn as the Joker on Suicide Squad.
