Gizmodo reader/best friend 4 ever Peter Kirn is spying on the audio engineer geeks at NYC's AES show this week to find out what's new and nifty in the world of musical instruments . . .

Oh, those long nights you spent trying to cram your guitar jack into your iMac. Now you can, thanks to a FireWire Guitar from some folks you probably haven't heard of. BridgeCo is the company that makes the guts of lots of audio gear, and now they've crammed a FireWire audio port into a boutique electric guitar. This is no USB ukelele, either: FireWire has the bandwidth to handle audio from each of the guitar's six strings, individually. You'd better tune, in other words.
