Uncanceled But Uncertain Projects

Everything before this has been stuff that is currently still the most likely Star Wars material to actually release in the next few years. But there are still projects that Lucasfilm has… well, yet to cancel more than anything else. Here’s a few things that we could potentially still be getting, but if we do at all, they’ll arrive well after anything we’ve previously discussed:

Taika Waititi’s Star Wars movie. Amid a wave of scrapping other film projects, Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi’s long-announced film survived. Bob Iger mentioned the project as still in development as of March 2023.

Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie. Last we heard from the director, speaking to Wired, he said that he has an “idea” for the film, but it had been delayed by the 2023 WGA strike.

Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy. Try as the forces of this cosmic existence we call life might, somehow, Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy—announced just a month before The Last Jedi hit theaters in 2017—still hasn’t officially been canceled, as both Johnson and Lucasfilm have insisted that it’s still far away, while the director works on other projects. Which means there’s still hope.

The Book of Boba Fett Season 2. While never formally confirmed, it’s likewise not been confirmed that we won’t be seeing more adventures for Temuera Morrison’s legendary bounty hunter turned would-be crime lord. Morrison recently cast doubt at a possible season two, but didn’t deny it altogether, either.
