There’s been a running theme with the trailers for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation trailers: they’re kind of ridiculous (in the best way), right down to flutes that are also guns. Sadly, the movie’s final trailer does not return to the wonderful gun flute, but it keeps the crazy action. Huzzah!
The final trailer is in very much the same vein as the first two, so you know the drill: Hunt and his IMF team are on the trail of a mysterious organization known as the Syndicate, who are basically the IMF but eeeeeviiiiil, or something. People may or may not be able to be trusted. Missions may be impossible, or even not as impossible as previously believed (honestly, that second one sounds like cheating for a franchise called Mission: Impossible).
The one constant? Ridiculously fun action sequences, with everything from motorbike chases, car and motorbike chases, and of course, Tom Cruise actually hanging off the side of a plane that’s taking off. If the movie can keep up the crazy setpieces — and some of the fun we saw at in the footage shown at Cinemacon — we might just be in for a great, slightly mindless summer action flick.
Ethan Hunt’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events, better known as Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, is in theaters July 31st.
