The show is based on George R. R. Martin’s series based in a fantasy world, similar to Medieval Europe, and the richness of the source material means the show can last for years. In the books, the reader follows the murderous rise and dramatic fall of the many different kingdoms and the people who rule them. Royal families are slaughtered, marriages are purchased, lies are told, and wars are started just about everyday in the Westeros. It’s bloody epic.

The show should debut sometime in 2011.
