Have you stopped and looked at your hand, and then a fork, and then your hand, and wondered why we only copied half of its design when creating utensils? In a way the tines on a fork work like the fingers on your hand, so why not include the thumb?

Japanese designer Keisuke Tsubakimoto probably wondered the same thing, but went the extra step and actually created a fork with a thumb demonstrating it truly is the next step in cutlery evolution. Sure, it will definitely improve the occasional pasta dinner, but eating everything from salads to steak would be better with a fork that provides a bit more grip. It’s the future we tell you, even if the future is vaguely reminiscent of eating dinner with a novelty backscratcher. [Tokyo Midtown via The Fancy]
