If you have a house full of halogen lights, you might be out of luck if you’re planning to get a Nintendo Wii gaming system when it’s launched this October. The much-vaunted Wii controller, or as it’s affectionately called, the Wiimote, develops aiming problems when those halogen lights are shining on its signal path, according to a tip given to our Gawker brethren at Kotaku.

The problem only happens when the controller is directly in the beams of halogen lights. This might be an issue for those of us who have placed lots of ultrawhite, highly controllable and more-efficient halogen lights throughout our cribs. Hey, we have an idea: when it’s time to play with your Nintendo Wii, turn off the lights.
