George Clooney and Darren Aronofsky could team up to film the fall of humanity

We’re almost elated director Darren Aronofsky passed on the second Wolverine movie, because his back-up project, Human Nature, sounds fascinating. Who doesn’t want to see a Aronofsky future where human beings are the lap-dogs for an alien species?

Vulture is reporting that Aronofsky has been circling this 15-year-old original script by Jeff Welch, which already has George Clooney attached to star. Here’s the catchy but quick plot description:

[George Clooney will play] a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up years later to a world in which humans have become pets of another species.

Granted Aronofsky has a long list of Hollywood films he’s attached to, or expressed interest in making, but Vulture seems to believe that with Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend) making the film financially possible, as one of the producers, Human Nature could be the very next film for Aronofsky. We’re dying to see some good old fashioned Twilight Zone storytelling — could be fun!
