Coming as a surprise to absolutely no-one, it looks like the upcoming GI Joe movie has become just the first in a (for the moviemakers, potentially long-running) franchise with the addition of a somewhat foreboding subtitle to next summer’s Sienna-Miller-in-rubber actionfest.
Dutch movie blog Film1.nl saw the revised title at a movie expo in Amsterdam:
For those who’ve had a chance to read the leaked script for the movie, the news that this is just part 1 in a series comes as no surprise – The script as is is much less a complete story in and of itself as much as an origin story for both Cobra and Duke-as-Joe, with less “sequel potential” as “being written expressly as the set-up for the next film.” I’m holding out for a Serpentor appearance in the third one.
