Google Bringing Thousands of NFC-Ready Cash Registers to NYC and SF

According to Bloomberg, Google’s gonna get this NFC thing on and poppin’ by funding the installation of thousands of NFC-ready cash registers at various retail locations around New York City and San Francisco. Google, whose Nexus S is one of the first NFC-ready handsets stateside, is backing a payment system developed by Verifone and reportedly hopes to have this first wave of machines installed within four months.
