After Google Maps disappeared from Windows Phone, Google announced it was working hard to solve the problem. Now Maps is back, so WinPho users can find their way with Google once more.

Verge reports that Google has re-enabled the web version of its maps for WinPho users. For a time, a redirect was put in place, which pushed users to a search page when they tried to visit Maps. First Google claimed that it’d removed access because the mobile app was optimized for WebKit browsers like Chrome and Safari, but not Internet Explorer. Turned out that wasn’t true. So Google backtracked and said it was the result of a performance test. Since, it’s been “working on a solution”.

Anyway, the net result is that the shit storm’s over and Google Maps is once again available on Windows Phone. [The Verge]
