Green Electrochromic Plastic

It’s slim on details, but Technology Review mentions a breakthrough technique by University of California at Los Angeles researchers that allows an electrochromic polymer to change from brownish-yellow to green when current is run through it. Since they’ve already managed to do the same thing with blue and red, cheap, flexible displays could be developed that utilize a blending of the three (after a few final snags are worked out). I like the idea of displays being a secondary function of plastics; it would free gadget designers from making devices designed around screens, allowing more interesting shapes. Roll-up screens would be nice, too.
