I've built a 500kv Tesla before. The only way I can see doing this is to have a solid state 120V relay and a computer to pulse the incoming power. This assumes your spark gap is on a separate 120v circuit as it can't be pulsed that fast.

All of the other stages in the electrical "drive train" are too dangerous to manipulate.
