You know all the words to Nikki Minaj’s latest hit? That’s so adorable but let’s try something with a melody and that will be remembered two years from now for more than just Pub Quiz fodder.

Herbie Hancock is an American pianist and Jazz icon, playing with the likes of Miles Davis’ “second great quintet” in the ’60s—being hand-picked by Davis himself. Cantelope Island, perhaps Hancock’s most recognizable piece, was recorded in 1964 for the album Empyrean Isles, though 1973’s Headhunters was his most popular album. In all Hancock, has appeared—either as the sideman or leading—in over two dozen albums. He even composed the Fat Albert television soundtrack. [Youtube, Wikipedia]
