IONCINEMA reports Kristen Stewart, Vicky Krieps, Niels Schneider, Riley Keough, Wagner Moura, and Barbara Sukowa are attached to star in Spiritual World, the latest film from Irma Vep director, Olivier Assayas. Stewart is said to play Ada, “a haunted young woman with clairvoyant abilities who begins receiving mysterious premonitions.”
Scapegoat
Deadline has word Ella Purnell (Fallout), Caleb Landry Jones (Get Out), and Samba Schutte (Pluribus) have joined the cast of Ari Aster’s mysterious Scapegoat in undisclosed roles.
Tick Fever
Variety also reports Elias Salonen and Anna Böhm will star in Tick Fever, an “absurd body horror” about “bloodsucking ticks, growing anxiety and a relationship way past its due date” from director Sebastian Granskog. “Years into being together,” the synopsis reads, “a co-dependent couple’s relationship starts crumbling due to a suspected tick bite. As Victor spirals into anxiety over his alleged bite mark, Stella pulls away, burying herself in her work. Victor’s anxiety starts manifesting itself as a giant, bloodthirsty tick, pushing the couple further from each other. When Victor notices Stella is also being slowly devoured by a tick similar to his own, he realizes the anxiety and fear keeping them together is the very thing that’s killing them.“
Scream 8
During a recent interview with JustWatch, Melissa Barrera answered whether she’d return to the Scream franchise if the same people who fired her asked her back.
Not with the company that currently holds the rights… I love the franchise. I had an amazing time making those movies. But a lot of the hate and the difficulty that I’ve faced in the last years is because the leadership of that company made it a point to label me something that I’m not, and they never apologized, even when I was proven right. Even with an apology, I wouldn’t go back to work with them. So, not that I’m holding my breath — I don’t think they have that ability — but if the franchise were ever to leave those hands and go more into hands that I think honor Wes Craven’s legacy more, I think yeah.

Mike Flanagan discussed modernizing Carrie for the digital age in a recent interview with The Radio Times.
The themes we are exploring are relevant to today’s teenagers in such a profound way that wasn’t true when I was that age, much less when Stephen [King] was, and just doing a period piece adaptation would have felt like re-reading. This wasn’t about nostalgia and doing something again, it was about telling a story that was vital to today; speaking to the unique experience of teens today, told through a new version of Stephen’s characters.
